The cutting of the sound or "f" holes is an exacting task. It is all done with a knife and traditionally the finish inside the hole is left straight from the knife.
The holes are marked out using a template and then as series of small holes (2mm) are drilled inside the line to allow for entry of the knife blade and to do the initial roughing out.
I
used a scalpel for cutting the holes and set up a magnifying glass to see
exactly what I was doing.
